2. Synopsis

This book is a summary of the research work of Zheng Honghe and Huang Yunhui's team over the past 20 years on silicon-based negative electrode materials and their use in lithium-ion batteries. The book consists of 10 chapters and 660,000 words. It not only reviews the significant progress in silicon negative electrode materials and their battery systems in recent years including new theories, new concepts, and new methods, but also emphasizes the fundamental problems from practice and experiments. The aim is to provide readers with a knowledge system derived from practice. The main contents include: the current status of silicon-based negative electrode materials, preparation methods and silicon-carbon composite technologies, the mechanisms of the capacity-decline of silicon anodes, silicon -based electrolyte and artificial interface technologies silicon electrode binder optimizations, pre-lithiation technologies and silicon-based full cells etc. The book elaborates the basic characteristics of high-performance silicon-based anode materials from multiple aspects such as the structure, design, morphology, phase state, and spatial confinement of silicon materials. It further discusses the optimization directions and technical routes from the electrolyte, binder, artificial interface, and pre-lithiation, and the preparation technology of high-performance silicon-based full-cells.

This book is suitable for researchers engaged in lithium-ion batteries and related material research, production, and application. It can also be used as a training textbook for R&D personnel and technicians in battery manufacturing enterprises and battery material manufacturing enterprises, and can also be used as a teaching reference book for young teachers, graduate students, and undergraduate students in universities and research institutes in related majors.
