US copper tariffs hit
发布时间:2025-07-15
The United States has decided to impose a 50% tariff on copper starting from August 1, 2025. Copper is a key material for electric vehicles, batteries, and wires, and is also crucial in semiconductor packaging, substrate design, and high-speed data transmission lines. The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) in the United States stated that "contrary to the original intention of protecting domestic industries, the cost of domestic chip production may rapidly rise, weakening global competitiveness. This tariff policy is seen as an attempt to ensure US tax revenue, curb China's rise in the semiconductor industry, and place the entire semiconductor supply chain in the US.
